Jon Drtina
Jon Drtina, who teaches and designs for the department, has worked in professional theatre from Florida to Alaska. His interests include theatre design and technology, theatre architecture, historic preservation, and arts administration. He received his B.A. in Theatre and Speech from DeSales University, and his M.F.A. in Theatre: Scenic and Lighting Design from The University of Southern Mississippi. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Theatre at the University of Missouri, researching the stage designs of John Ezell. Before moving to Columbia, Jon taught theatre at Elon University, and served as the Executive Director of the Givens Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Jon has taught classes in Theatre Design, Stagecraft, Scene Painting, Theatre Architecture, Properties Design and Construction, Scenic Construction, Lighting Design, Introduction to Theatre, Introduction to Fine Arts, Theatre Management, Performing Arts Administration, Directing, Theatre Workshop, and Children's Theatre. In 2008, Jon received the Herbert D. Greggs Award from The United States Institute of Theatre Technology for his article, "A Conversation with John Ezell," published in TD&T: Theatre Design and Technology. |
