Mizzou Theatre - Larry D. Clark’s 2026 Summer Repertory Theatre

Mizzou Theatre | Summer 2026

Mizzou Theatre's summer performance will feature A Year with Frog and Toad, directed by Dr. Joy Powell.

A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awardsincluding Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friendsthe cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toadthrough four fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, all charm — A Year With Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons. The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical for the whole family.

Mizzou’s Summer Repertory theatre was founded in 1969 and envisioned by Larry D. Clark—former Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dean of the College of Arts and Science. SRT brings together professionals and community members to collaborate with students, alumni, and guest artists. The name was changed to the Larry D. Clark Summer Repertory Theatre in the summer of 2017.
