Bio

Alyssa Durbin is a professional performer, director, and teaching artist from Paducah, KY. Since earning her undergraduate degree, she has focused primarily on theatre for young audiences, touring thousands of schools nationwide with The Windy City Players and The National Theatre for Children.

In addition to performing, Alyssa brings over a decade of experience as a teaching artist and director. She spent five summers as the Theatre Camp Director at the Chesterfield YMCA and currently teaches at Gateway Center for Performing Arts, where she recently directed Seussical KIDS and Seussical JR.

Alyssa is also an aspiring playwright, currently developing a TYA piece that explores fairytale characters with invisible disabilities. As an artist with disabilities herself, her research interests include disability representation in children’s theatre, Theatre of the Oppressed, and the intersection of health and theatre. She is excited to begin the next chapter of her career as a first-year MA candidate at the University of Missouri.
