Claire Syler is a scholar/artist whose work focuses on equity in theatre education, applied theatre, and actor training. 

Claire co-edited Casting a Movement: The Welcome Table Initiative (2019, Routledge) with Daniel Banks, which examines casting practices as they relate to varying US communities and contexts. She has published research in The Routledge Companion to Theatre, Performance and Cognitive Science, Theatre, Dance and Performance Training (UK), Theatre Topics, and Youth Theatre Journal, as well as popular commentary in HowlRound. For Mizzou, Claire has directed The Every 28 Hours Plays and the premiere of The Green Duck Lounge by Kansas City-based playwright, Michelle Tyrene Johnson.
