Education

Melanie is a third year PhD student in Performance Studies in the Theatre Department at the University of Missouri.  The road to Performance Studies was long. It involved earning an MA in Political Science, a BA in Economics & Business, and teaching certification in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, building a family, and teaching students of all ages. During those years in the classroom, Melanie began making pedagogical choices that she later learned were consistent with the work done in Applied Theatre.  Now she is exploring Applied Theatre not just in the realm of education, but also in elder care and caretaker wellness.
