BA in Theatre from Western Kentucky University, 2013; MA in Theatre & Performance Studies from Colorado University: Boulder, 2023
Sebastian "Seabass" Kearney is a PhD Student in the department of theatre & performance studies. Their research lives in the weird place where performance studies, comedy studies, and trauma studies all meet. Beyond these research interests, they enjoy exploring additional themes like performances of de/coloniality, indigenous theatre, and vulnerability & intimacy in performance. Also, they can ramble for hours about improv theatre techniques and improv theatre history. (You’ve been warned) Sebastian has worn a number of hats while working as a theatre artist which include being a director, a lighting designer, an actor, and most recently, a solo performance artist. Some of their favorite acting credits include Standing on Ceremony, Naked Boys Singing!, and Les Liaisons Dangereuses. As a designer some of their favorite productions include The Miss Firecracker Contest, Still Life with Iris, and Oddly Puddle is From Inner Space, but their favorite design work involves designing the lights for dance concerts.
